The insured event must be reported to the bus driver, or to the manager of the passenger area during the journey, if it occurs in the passenger area, or, in the case of travel on international special services, in writing to Volánbusz Zrt. if verbal communication is not possible. The personnel of the service or other competent employee (authorised representative) shall prepare a record of the claim event on the spot, or at the nearest designated service point of Volánbusz Zrt., which will be made available to the insured party within 8 days.

If the insured party is unable to declare the claim event because of the injury suffered, the representative of Volánbusz Zrt. will arrange recording it ex officio. If the claim event occurs in an area used for passenger transport and the record indicated above cannot be prepared, the burden of proof of the claim event lies with the insured party (e.g., on the basis of a police or ambulance accident report). If damage to luggage is caused by robbery, in addition to notifying the employee of Volánbusz Zrt., the injured party must also report the loss to the police, in which case a final decision of the police is required for the claim payment. The Insurer is entitled to inspect all documents and evidence necessary to assess the claim.

In addition to the documents necessary for the proof and assessment of the claim for the Insurer's services (e.g., death certificate, official certificate or final decision, medical documents, hospital discharge report), minutes taken by Volánbusz Zrt. are required. A detailed list of the documents required to enforce a claim is contained in the ‘Customer Information.

The policyholder, or alternatively, the beneficiary, must report the claim event in writing within 8 days of its occurrence, shall provide the necessary information and allow the insurer to verify the content of the notification and information.

The insurer will provide the benefits within 15 days of receiving all the documents necessary to assess the claim. Payments delayed due to late submission of a claim for a benefit or the documents required for its fulfilment, shall be made by the insurer free of interest.

The insured party or their heir(s) is (are) entitled to collect the benefit.
