General Questions

Who can use Volánbusz services?

All persons who hold a valid ticket, pass or document entitling them to free travel, are entitled to use the Volánbusz services. If you travel on any national bus service requiring a supplementary fare, you must also have a supplementary long-distance ticket. A reduced fare ticket or pass is valid only alongside the presentation of documents proving entitlement.

Where can I plan my journey?

You can easily plan your journey on the Volánbusz website, at www.menetrendek.hu and www.utas.hu. Our company provides live data to the most common trip planners, so you can also use Google Maps to plan your trip.

Where can I buy tickets and passes?

There are two ways to buy a ticket or a pass: in person or online.

In person, at the bus driver, at our ticket offices, at our sales partners, at many MÁV-START ticket offices, at post offices or from our ticket machines. On buses where passes are sold from on-board ticket machines, you can buy a pass during the pass sales period. The pass sales period lasts from the 26th day of the month preceding the month of validity, until the 8th day of the month in question. Is it worth buying a pass?

Buying a pass is recommended if you travel frequently. We recommend our passengers the very affordable country or county passes, about which you can find more information  at www.orszagberlet.hu.

What do we know about country and county passes?

These passes offer an even simpler solution than before, as it is now sufficient to buy a single pass (bus and train) for daily commuting and weekend excursions. A county pass allows you to travel within the borders of one county, while a national pass allows you to travel throughout the country on coach services and trains, as well as on local services in certain municipalities.
